Nationwide blood drive launched to help hospitals at centre of cyber attack
Several London hospitals, including King’s, the Royal Brompton, Guys’, St Thomas’, and Evelina Children’s Hospital have been seriously affected by a ransomware attack by Russian cybercriminals. The hospitals’ blood testing services have been compromised, leading to cancelled operations and blood tests. NHS Blood and Transplant has launched an urgent appeal for type O blood donations, required in large quantities due to the inability to match patients’ blood at the usual rate.
