Nationwide blood drive launched to help hospitals at centre of cyber attack

An “urgent” blood drive has been launched across the UK after a cyber attack on London hospitals including King’s, the Royal Brompton and Guys’. The attack, which targeted pathology firm Synnovis, has so greatly affected blood testing services that operations have been cancelled. NHS Blood and Transplant has appealed for type O blood donors, as blood cannot currently be matched as frequently as usual. Stocks of type O blood are currently lower than normal.
