Nationwide blood drive launched to help hospitals at centre of cyber attack

Several London hospitals are critically affected by a ransomware attack orchestrated by Russian hackers, which has disrupted their blood testing services. The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has launched an urgent appeal for blood donations, particularly from people with type O blood, as it is safe for use in most patients. About 13,000 blood donation appointments are available across the UK due to lower stocks following recent bank and school holidays.
