Hospitals cyber attack impacts 800 operations
London hospitals were forced to re-schedule over 800 planned operations and 700 outpatient appointments after a cyber attack struck pathology services provider Synnovis. NHS trusts, King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ were most affected. Blood-born virus tests are now suspended, and blood tests prioritised for urgent cases. NHS England declared a regional incident, rerouting blood tests and prioritising patients for time-sensitive care, while NHS Blood and Transplant provided extra stocks of “universal” blood.
