Patients urged to stay safe in wake of Dumfries and Galloway NHS data theft

Every household in the Dumfries and Galloway region will receive an update from NHS Dumfries and Galloway this week about the February cyber attack. Julie White, the chief executive, warns that staff and patients are potentially at risk due to data theft, where criminals copied files onto the NHS’s servers and published them online. The health authority believes patient medical records were not affected, but many other documents were copied and released online.
