Cyberattack on Synnovis: A major disruption to healthcare services

A major cyberattack hit a pathology firm serving multiple NHS trusts in London on 3 June 2024. The action severely disrupted operations, affecting more than 800 planned procedures, 700 outpatient appointments, and numerous specialised treatments. The incident highlighted the growing risk to patient safety from such attacks and prompted calls for the health service to prioritise the development of solid cybersecurity measures to prevent and mitigate future incidents.
