Data from NHS cyber attack that cancelled operations ‘published online by criminal group’
A Russian cyber criminal group called Qilin is believed to have carried out a ransomware attack on Synnovis, a UK provider of pathology services for blood tests. The attackers have allegedly published sensitive patient data online, causing havoc for healthcare services and forcing the cancellation of thousands of operations and appointments. Synnovis had to destroy 20,000 blood samples affecting 13,500 patients. The compromised data includes patient names, birth dates, NHS numbers, and descriptions of blood tests.
