Cyber criminals publish alleged NHS patient data

Cyberattackers targeting UK’s Synnovis, which provides pathology lab services for London hospitals, have published what they claim is data from NHS patients. NHS England is investigating the content of the files in a process that could “take weeks if not longer.” The attack on June 3 significantly impacted services at several facilities. Over 1,100 procedures and nearly 2,200 outpatient appointments have been postponed across two hospital trusts. The backlog due to the attack is expected to be enormous and labs may not be operational until late September.
