FBI, HHS issue advisory on cyberthreat actors targeting health care to divert payments

Cyberthreat actors are targeting healthcare organizations to steal payments, warns the FBI and Department of Health and Human Services. Threat actors gain access via phishing efforts, targeting employee emails and processing information for insurance, Medicare and similar reimbursements. In some cases, they trick IT help desks into resetting passwords. The agencies recommend healthcare organizations bolster security measures and maintain vigilance, especially during holidays.
