‘Expect major disruption’, patients warned as junior doctors’ strike and hot weather heap ‘significant pressure’ on NHS
NHS England is expecting “major disruption” from hot weather and the junior doctors’ strike. Yellow heat health alerts and the doctors’ strike will put additional strain on the health service. Despite concerns, the British Medical Association has said some junior doctors will remain on-site to avoid any “dangerous delays to cancer care.” Incidents such as these have already caused the cancellation of around 91,048 appointments, procedures and operations.
