Ipswich Hospital over 800 mixed-sex accommodation breaches

Numerous breaches of same-sex accommodation rules have occurred in UK hospitals. NHS England data shows Ipswich Hospital recorded 865 mixed-sex accommodation breaches from January to April this year. Colchester Hospital had 45 breaches, and West Suffolk Hospital recorded 20 breaches. Such breaches can cause patients significant psychological distress, said Jason Brady, Head of Medical Negligence at Blackwater Law. However, hospitals argue that some breaches are due to ward layouts and they take steps to maintain patient dignity.
