Heat and strikes piling pressure on NHS – bosses

NHS England is warning of major healthcare disruptions due to a five-day junior doctors’ strike, coinciding with expected heatwave conditions. The strikes are part of a longstanding pay dispute where British Medical Association (BMA) members demand a 35% pay increase. Last year, BMA members rejected discussions of an additional 3% pay raise. The hot weather and the strike are both expected to put significant pressure on already strained services.
