NHS patients’ data still exposed in ‘honeypot for hackers’ after ‘failing to act’ on cyber attack warnings

The NHS in the UK failed to respond to warnings about weaknesses in a patient data system which was subsequently hacked. Even after the attack, mistakes by senior officials have left millions of patients potentially vulnerable. The NHS was warned at the start of 2023 that their data was being housed on an outdated platform. Despite this, a new system still leaves millions of patient records vulnerable to attack. The NHS has now added a system of two-factor authentication and is said to be fully committed to implementing the best security standards possible.
