The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has introduced voluntary Cybersecurity Performance Goals (CPGs) to enhance cybersecurity measures within the healthcare and public health sector. This includes building resilience and adapting to evolving threat landscapes. The CPGs aim to improve preparedness, safeguard patient data, and address vulnerabilities within the healthcare system. It also includes adopting multi-factor authentication and ensuring encryption for sensitive data. Next month, the Health Sector Coordinating Council will release a five-year cybersecurity strategic plan in efforts to upgrade healthcare cybersecurity by 2029.
