May 2024 Healthcare Data Breach Report

Healthcare data breaches hit a new low in May 2024, making it the second consecutive month to register a decrease. However, despite the decrease, the number of breaches went up by 22% for the year. Two major breaches were reported in May, affecting a total of 5.3m records. May 2024 marked the lowest number of breaches since October 2023, and the month’s figure was well below the 12-month average of 65 breaches.
