January 2023 Healthcare Data Breach Report

In January 2023, healthcare data breaches remained at the same level as in December 2022, with 40 breaches reported. However, this is down from 53 in January 2022. January also saw a significant decrease in the number of breached records, falling well below the 12-month average. The largest breach affected Mindpath Health, where multiple employee email accounts were compromised. Unauthorized access incidents were also reported, including the use of tracking technologies collecting user information on websites. California reported seven breaches, the most of any state.
