BBC Data Breach: Businesses Advised to be ‘Extra Vigilant’

The BBC disclosed a major data breach affecting approximately 25,000 individuals, including present and former BBC workers, with names, dates of birth, national insurance numbers, gender, and home addresses compromised. The breach occurred on 21st May 2024 due to unauthorized access to data hosted on a cloud-based service. The broadcaster confirmed that they’ve implemented extra security measures and that there’s no evidence yet that it was a ransomware attack.
