Nissan North America data breach impacts over 53,000 employees

Nissan North America suffered a data breach in 2023 that exposed personal data of over 53,000 current and former employees. Threat actors targeted the company’s external VPN and shut down systems demanding ransom. Nissan has offered a free two-year credit monitoring and identity theft protection service to victims and has said it’s unaware of the exposed data being misused as yet.
