NHS had 66 alerts over cyber attack but did nothing
A lack of response to 66 cyber attacks last year left the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) vulnerable to Friday’s cyber attack requiring a ransom payment, according to a Mail on Sunday investigation. Some NHS administrators have blamed the breach on outmoded software on thousands of NHS computers. One NHS trust, at The Imperial College healthcare system, suffered 19 cyber attack for ransom in 2016. Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Home Secretary Amber Rudd were criticised for complacency as Friday’s attack forced hospitals to divert patients.
