AT&T paid a hacker around $370,000 in cryptocurrency to delete stolen data following a serious security breach that compromised the records of millions of its customers. The hacker, believed to be part of the ShinyHunters group, also provided a video showing the data being erased. The negotiations were facilitated by a security researcher, Reddington. The stolen data mainly comprised call and text metadata, with no customers’ names or communication content included.
