Evolve Bank admits cyberattack saw millions of customers have data stolen

Evolve Bank & Trust confirmed it was attacked by ransomware, losing sensitive customer data. The LockBit ransomware gang carried out the attack after an employee clicked a malicious email link, initially mistaken for a hardware failure. LockBit stole some data, encrypted the rest and then, after Evolve refused a ransom, leaked the data on the dark web, affecting 7.6 million customers and employees.
