Malware scammers gearing up for 2024 summer Olympics in Paris

Security provider Fortinet has warned of an expected surge in cyber attacks during the Paris Olympics, targeting fans, VIPs, and sponsors for scams, digital fraud, and data acquisition. Following similar outbreaks during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Qatar 2022 World Cup, the attacks, which have been months in the making, will likely reach into the billions. An 80-90% rise in French language operations has been noted, with spear-phishing and targeted attacks expected against VIP attendees.
