Anthony Albanese’s warning after MediSecure hack: ‘Won’t be the last’
MediSecure, an Australian e-prescription service provider, was hit by a major cyber attack earlier this year, revealing personal health data of nearly 13 million customers. Among the information stolen were names, addresses, dates of birth, Medicare numbers, and prescription information. The Melbourne-based company confirmed 6.5 terabytes of data was exposed, some of which has been found on the dark web. This attack ranks among Australia’s largest, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese labeling it a “very significant cyber event.”
