New healthcare cybersecurity bill could tackle growing threats

US senators have proposed the Healthcare Cybersecurity Act amid a 128% rise in cyberattacks on America’s healthcare system in 2023. The bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to enhance cybersecurity in the sector and provide information on protecting against threats. The Act would also create a liaison within the Agency that would coordinate response efforts in the event of a cyberattack.
