Maggie’s centre plan for Dumfries stalled by NHS charity bosses
The proposal to build a Maggie’s cancer care centre in Dumfries has been halted due to lack of fund commitment from NHS charity bosses. Despite more than £10m balance in the charity’s funds, the trustees declined to commit the initial £1m outlay and an ongoing £80k per annum. Campaigners argue that the decision hinders plans to build the centre in the hometown of the charity’s founder, Maggie Keswick Jencks.
