‘Out of date’ IT system leaves NHS at risk of further cyber attacks
A ransomware attack in June led to the postponement of over 6,000 appointments and procedures at major London hospitals. Professor Ciaran Martin identified outdated IT systems and poor security practices as key issues. Data stolen from a pathology services provider was published online; the breach contained information including patient names and blood test descriptions. There is currently no evidence of the full database being published, but potential victims have yet to be identified.
