Cyberattack on NHS causing thousands of cancelled appointments
Over a month after a cyberattack on NHS England left services disrupted, patient appointments are still being cancelled. The Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have postponed 6,199 outpatient appointments and 1,491 elective procedures. The trusts have been forced to rely more heavily on O-positive and O-negative blood, leading to a national decrease in supplies. Pathology services are also running at half capacity as they struggle to recover from the disruption.
