A Call to Action From 9 Former U.S. Cabinet Secretaries: We Need a National Effort to Protect Patients Against Health Care Cyberattacks

Cyberattacks on American healthcare systems have nearly doubled in the past year, with over 134 million individuals having their health information exposed or stolen in 2023 alone. A group of nine former U.S. health secretaries have called for the formation of a new public-private partnership to protect healthcare data, proposing the use of AI and data encryption among other advanced technologies, modelled after the successful COVID-19 vaccine development process.
