UnitedHealth sued by providers, pharmacy group over massive Change data breach

The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) claims UnitedHealth, Change Healthcare, and Optum are responsible for financial losses and delayed payments faced by over 19,400 pharmacies due to a ransomware attack on Change Healthcare in February. The attack halted payment and claims processing across the U.S. with the NCPA accusing UnitedHealth subsidiaries of failing to adequately protect data and provide a contingency plan.
