Chinese Hackers Target Taiwan and US NGO with MgBot Malware

The Beijing-affiliated state-sponsored hacking group, Daggerfly, has targeted organizations in Taiwan and a U.S. NGO in China with upgraded malware tools. Daggerfly’s latest attacks feature a new malware family based on MgBot and an improved version of MACMA, an Apple macOS malware strain. The attacks signal the group’s continued espionage activities, according to a report by Broadcom’s Symantec Threat Hunter Team.
