The biggest data breaches, hacks of 2021

In 2021, thousands of cybersecurity incidents were recorded, including major ransomware attacks and data breaches. As per the Identity Theft Research Center, the number of data breaches increased by 17% compared to 2020. Average costs of data breaches and ransomware demands also skyrocketed to over $4 million and $6 million respectively. Key incidents include compromise of Microsoft Exchange servers and ransomware against Colonial Pipeline and CNA Financial.
