Log4j vulnerability explained and how to respond

Widespread cyberattacks have been reported due to a zero-day vulnerability found in the Java logging library, Apache Log4j 2.x. The exploit exposes hundreds of millions of services, websites, and applications to potential data theft or malicious code execution. Over 840,000 cyberattacks were recorded within 72 hours of the initial discovery. To manage the vulnerability, Apache has released several updated Log4j versions, while experts recommend employing a breach mentality, regular vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and threat hunting.
