DigiCert to Revoke 83,000+ SSL Certificates Due to Domain Validation Oversight

DigiCert, a certificate authority, will revoke a portion of SSL/TLS certificates due to an error in its domain verification process. The firm found it forgot to prefix a random value with an underscore in some validations, tracing the error back to changes implemented since 2019. This omission was not detected during system reviews, and affects about 0.4% of the applicable domain validations. Impacted customers are now advised to replace their certificates immediately.
