Epic moves forward on health app interoperability

Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) directory has enabled consumers to join data from multiple EHR sources, says Matt Doyle from Epic. The directory allows patients to connect with health apps outside of the Epic system. The TEFCA service was made live in December and gives access to health records in the TEFCA directory upon authentication in MyChart. The convenience reduces burden and benefits app developers who no longer need to negotiate agreements.
