A team of researchers from Cincinnati Children’s has discovered a novel molecular signaling pathway that maintains the skin barrier. They found that the protein CARD14, which directly binds and regulates MYC – a cell growth controlling protein, plays a key role in skin health. Disruptions in the CARD14-MYC pathway could lead to skin diseases, and potentially certain cancer types. The team is developing therapeutics that influence this pathway.
