Giant Enzymes in Tiny Organisms Synthesize Giant Toxins

A newly discovered enzyme from algae, PKZILLA-1, is the largest protein ever identified in biology. Its size enables the production of large toxins which are harmful to fish. The discovery of PKZILLA-1 could improve monitoring of harmful algal blooms and opens up potential for synthesizing new compounds for medical or industrial applications.
