SonicWall Issues Critical Patch for Firewall Vulnerability Allowing Unauthorized Access

Security firm SonicWall has released updates to correct a critical flaw in its firewalls. The vulnerability, known as CVE-2024-40766 and scored 9.3 on the CVSS scale, could provide unauthorized device access to potential threat actors. The issue affects SonicWall Firewall Gen 5, 6, and 7 devices operating on certain versions of SonicOS. SonicWall hasn’t reported any exploitation of the flaw but advises users to promptly install the relevant patches.
