System errors in the computers that consulting firm Deloitte runs for American Medicaid and other government benefits are likely to take years and hundreds of millions of dollars to fix. A KFF Health News investigation revealed these problems are affecting 25 US states and are costing governments significantly more than the original contracts with Deloitte. Nonprofit the National Health Law Program filed a complaint against Deloitte in January, claiming the firm’s errors are causing recipients to lose out on crucial benefits.
