Iowa awards Centene Medicaid managed care contract
The US state of Iowa has awarded Centene a new, six-year Medicaid managed care contract. Its subsidiary, Total Care, has held such a contract since 2019, serving beneficiaries in the state’s safety-net insurance program. It will now expire at the same time as similar contracts held by Elevance and Molina, in 2031. The contract maintains the status quo in managed care organizations operating in Iowa Medicaid, with no changes to benefits for approximately 720,000 citizens accessing Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
