Researchers still don’t know how 1.3 million Android streaming boxes were backdoored
Malware known as Android.Vo1d has infected nearly 1.3 million open source Android streaming devices across 200 countries. The devices, reportedly running outdated operating systems, could have been infected through a malware exploit, or due to use of unofficial firmware versions. Security firm Doctor Web has yet to identify the source of the infection, but noted it’s not unusual for older OS versions to be installed on cheap devices.
