Democrats unveil bill banning in-game sports betting ads, bets on college athletes

Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Paul Tonko have proposed the Supporting Affordability and Fairness with Every Bet (SAFE Bet) Act, which seeks to prohibit live sports bets and proposition bets on college athletes. The bill aims to set standards in advertising, prohibit credit card use for gambling and regulate artificial intelligence usage in tracking gambling habits. The American Gaming Association has criticised the bill as a “slap in the face” to state legislatures and gaming regulators.
