The Cost of Avoiding Microplastics
Microplastics have been found in every sampled human placenta, testicles, and brains, with the amount humans are exposed to set to double by 2040, according to University of New Mexico’s Matthew Campen. These particles, which are present in everyday items and our environment, can cause health impacts including cancer, hormone disruption and developmental abnormalities. Despite causing him to stress, Campen urged people not to panic as the systemic impact of the plastics problem is more concerning.
