OSTP’s Sarah Glaven Kicks Off BPI Meeting with Biden’s Biomanufacturing Initiative

The Bioprocess International (BPI) meeting began with a speech by Sarah Glaven from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, who outlined the progress and future of the Biden administration’s biotechnology and biomanufacturing initiatives. Glaven noted the importance of government involvement in these areas, given their potential to transform carbon and other materials into useful products, such as fuel, plastic and food. However, she did identify hurdles such as high costs and logistical challenges.
