Addenbrooke’s Hospital breached duty of care over stroke patient

Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, has admitted negligence after a High Court judge ruled that a patient had suffered a “massive” stroke due to being given the wrong drug. The patient, Phoebe Pickering, was denied a clot reducing drug which could have prevented her stroke. The judge said the hospital had breached its duty of care to Mrs Pickering. The hospital has since apologised.
