Addressing Insider Threats: Strengthening Security Strategies

siteadmin May 29, 2023

Insider threats to cybersecurity have surged by 44% from 2020 to 2022, according to a report by the Ponemon Institute, with each incident costing up to $15.38 million. The report reveals that just 26% of threats are from dangerous intent, while 56% occur due to errors or negligent behavior. Health providers are particularly vulnerable to these risks, prompting health agencies, like the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the UK’s NHS Cyber Strategy, to refine regulations and require additional safety measures, such as Privileged Access Management systems.
