Adopting Uniform National Provider Directory Standards Will Promote Interoperability
DirectTrust, a non-profit healthcare coalition, is enhancing its directory to improve data sharing among healthcare providers. It aims to support the 90% of US hospitals utilizing Direct Secure Messaging, which promotes easy data exchange. However, challenges persist, including difficulty integrating with different electronic health records (EHRs), multiple system portals, incomplete digital contact information and restricted interoperability. DirectTrust’s directory update will align more closely with the planned US National Directory of Health Care Providers and Services.
