UK healthcare IT provider Advanced suffered a ransomware attack on August 4, disrupting NHS 111 emergency services. Advanced has hired Mandiant and Microsoft DART for forensics and system restoration, which may take till end-August. The attack affected patient referral systems, ambulance dispatch management, and after-hours patient booking and emergency prescriptions. Advanced provides IT services for over 25,000 customers including significant public and private sector bodies.
