A&E waiting time over 12 hours for more than 100,000 in England
Over 100,000 patients spent over 12 hours at A&E departments in England last year, according to figures released by the UK’s Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC). The number of patients waiting over 12 hours at A&E has risen to 124,000 in 2015, from 68,000 in 2013. Furthermore, the chairman of the Quality Emergency Care Committee at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM), Dr. Adrian Boyle, said that studies have shown an increased mortality rate for those patients visiting A&E who had to experience long waiting times.
