AlphaFold accelerates discovery of potential antipsychotic drugs by outperforming traditional methods

Swedish researchers have used a machine learning method to identify a promising drug candidate for treating neuropsychiatric conditions. The team used AlphaFold to screen over 16 million compounds for their potential as TAAR1 agonists. The AlphaFold-based screen had a higher hit rate than traditional methods, and the successful drug candidate (known as compound 65) displayed antipsychotic-like effects in mice.
