‘Amber alert’ as NHS in Plymouth makes urgent plea for people with certain blood type

The NHS has issued an urgent call for O negative and O positive blood donors to help meet the growing demand from hospitals after a cyber attack reduced collections. An ‘Amber Alert’ has been sent to hospitals, instructing them to restrict O type blood use to essential cases and use alternatives when safe. The NHS is making an additional 1,000 appointments per week available.
